In this paper, a novel joint source channel safety and virtual user identification method for DSCDMA ad hoc networks is proposed. Previous algorithms for DS-CDMA ad hoc networks mainly concentrated on how to solve packet collision and save the power of the nodes. However, they didn’t involve how to improve the safety of the channels, which is critical for many applications. In our method, the header of the packet is protected and encrypted at the sender by embedding a random, safe and identifiable header, which is related to the source information at the beginning of every packet as base-band digital modulation. It has been shown that our proposed method improves the active user estimation precision and reduces the probability of missing detection for virtual user identification. In addition, it can obtain advanced channel safety.
