Most Topology control (TC) researches in wireless sensor networks focus on speci¯c algorithms. This paper proposes the problem that which criterion should be adopted for the selection of Connectivity type TC and Coverage type TC. By de¯ning \density of events" as the decision criterion, the corresponding threshold values are computed. Simulations indicate that the criteria analyzed are directive and reasonable.
