  • Distance perception plays an important role in audio rendering. From listener's perspective, sound intensity and Direct-to-reverberant energy ratio (DRR) decrease while the distance between the listener and source increases. Though implementing changes in intensity is quite easy, providing realistic changes in directtoreverberant energy ratio is quite demanding. In this paper, reverberation has been introduced into the synthesized WFS virtual sound field, and it has been proved that the corresponding DRR decreases with increasing distance. Compared with implementing changes in sound intensity, subjective listening test has proved that the proposed method can provide more authentic distance perception in the reproduced sound field.
