Introduction

With the popularity of Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing has become one of the most important supporting infrastructures for ensuring the real-time Quality of Service (QoS), especially for data-intensive IoT applications in AI-empowered scenarios. With the booming of AI technology, intelligent edge computing has received a tremendous amount of interest. The differentiated requirements on QoS makes it a multi-dimensional concept, including several attributes, such as performance, dependability, energy efficiency, economic factors, etc. Due to the complex hierarchy, high dynamics, and large-scale characteristics of edge computing infrastructure for IoT, QoS provision faces several challenges, such as state-space explosion in system modeling, high complexity in QoS analysis, trade-off among multiple QoS attributes, huge search space in QoS optimization, etc. New theories and techniques of multi-dimensional QoS provision are urgently required. This special issue aims to solicit the most recent advances and future trends with respect to multi-dimensional QoS provision of intelligent edge computing for IoT.

Topics of interest to this special issue include, but are not limited to

l  Analytical modeling techniques and model validation of edge computing for IoT

l  Multi-dimensional QoS analysis of intelligent edge computing for IoT

l  QoS monitoring and forecasting of intelligent edge computing for IoT

l  Personalized multi-dimensional QoS customization in intelligent edge computing

l  Game theory, network economics, and platform design for intelligent edge computing and IoT

l  Artificial intelligence techniques for QoS provision of edge computing

l  Federated learning and meta learning for QoS guarantee of IoT services
